Temperature: 33 ºF
Sky: 100% Cloud Cover
Precipitation: Small flurries this morning
Wind: North East 13 mph
With that storm coming through last night, we were set up for a major snow event! With the low pressure system bringing precipitation and the relatively slow speed of the storm, we should have gotten dumped on. The north east winds would bring moisture from the great lakes into the area, feeding into the storm and producing high snowfall amounts. Instead, the occlusion that is evident on the surface map below, cut off that moisture, leaving us with just a few flurries. It still left us with a couple of inches, but boy did we get lucky.

You can see how that moisture gets pulled into the region with the winds in this moisture map.
